Fellows' Course In Venous Disease

Founder and Director of the Fellows’ Course In Venous Diseases since 2005, Steve Elias, MD and the American Venous Forum have partnered to provide three regional Fellows’ Courses in 2010.

This course is designed to educate vascular surgery and interventional radiology fellows about the management of venous disease. This two and a half day course provides a mix of didactic, interactive and clinical experiences.

AVF is committed to providing a consistent high quality, interactive and hands-on experience. Faculty interaction is crucial to the fellows’ fully benefitting from this course; therefore, enrollment is limited to 35 attendees. The faculty consists of AVF leaders in the field of venous disease and local experts from each host site.

The course program will cover:

  • Anatomy and pathophysiology of venous disorders and noninvasive diagnostics
  • Chronic venous insufficiency (superficial & deep)
  • Pregnancy, upper extremity venous issues, acute DVT and wound care
  • Future of venous disease
  • The business of venous disease

Fellows’ travel, lodging and meal expenses are supported by sponsoring industry. Fellows are registered on a first-come, first-served basis. Each application must be accompanied by a Letter of Endorsement from their Program Director in order to be considered. Participation in the course is limited to residents/fellows in programs located in the United States.
